Has education come full circle?
Education started with the Socratic process then morphed into the standard lectures and in the last decade migrated from "student based learning: to "active learning". In this decade higher education is migrating from closed learning environments to applied learning and open learning environments.
Also, within the last few years educational systems have also started migrating from standard textbooks to mobile content delivery and oral presentations of materials, as well as integrating more social networking tools into the learning process. (see "A Brief History of Technology Enhanced Learning" for a timeline of events) Have we come full circle in education, or are we in the verge of an educational tsunami?
