Daegu City will push for eight projects worth 2.2 trillion won under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Science and ICT, including the designation of the nation’s No. 1 SW promotion complex to create Daegu as a digital innovation hub.

Daegu City signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 31st of last month to “accelerate digital convergence and innovation in each region and industry and enhance national digital competitiveness” and held a digital innovation vision ceremony and a business meeting. More than 50 people attended the signing ceremony, including Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo, Vice Minister of Science and ICT Park Yoon-kyu, Hong Seok-joon, a member of the National Assembly’s Science, ICT and Communication Committee, Huh Sung-wook, head of the Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency, and young entrepreneurs.

The eight projects promoted by Daegu City are ABB-related projects such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and blockchain, which are key technologies of the digital economy. The key is to establish infrastructure and foundations related to future new industries such as building software stadiums, creating AI autonomous manufacturing clusters, and establishing national data hub centers. Daegu City has decided to cooperate with the Ministry of Science and ICT in promoting these projects as preliminary feasibility studies projects.
